Background

14 August 1910 is regarded as the founding date of the first nature reserve in Estonia -  Vaika bird protection area. It was the first known conservation area in the Baltic countries and currently, the conservation area on the islands of Vaika constitutes a part of the Vilsandi National Park. Read more

The aim of the scientific conference, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of nature conservation in Estonia, is to address the development of nature conservation so far, its current situation and further development trends in the international and local context.
